The Very First Christmas Gift
All about the Christmas gift that changed the world
Do you know about the very first Christmas gift? The Christmas gift that changed the world…
Laura Legend shares the story of the very first Christmas gift...
In a trivia game, many people would answer that the first Christmas gift came from the wise men who took gifts to Bethlehem when Jesus was born. That makes a lot of sense actually, as the origin of the Christmas gift is said to be attributed to the unselfish gift giving of the wise men that were among the first to worship Jesus.
On the other hand, some would say the first Christmas gift originated with Saint Nicholas who generously gave gifts to children and the needy. Another great suggestion!
However, Laura Legend has her own ideas regarding the very first Christmas gift. Without this very special gift, we wouldn’t even celebrate Christmas.
The very first Christmas gift given to man came directly from God and it was his son, Jesus Christ.
Christians around the world, in every country, celebrate the birth of Jesus and recognize him as Lord and Savior, God’s son who was sacrificed to pay the debt for man’s sins so that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but will have everlasting life. Eternal life – what a wonderful Christmas gift!
The first Christmas gift was born to a virgin, Mary, who was favored by God. Joseph, who became Mary’s husband, went from Nazareth to Bethlehem in Judea to register for the census. There was no room for them in the inn at Bethlehem, so they stayed in the manger where Jesus was born.
News of the first Christmas gift spread rather rapidly. The Magi (the wise men) went to Bethlehem in search of the newborn King of the Jews. King Herod was disturbed and evidently saw Jesus as a threat. He ordered that all baby boys in and around Bethlehem be killed.
Joseph and Mary, due to instructions from an angel of the Lord that appeared to Joseph in a dream, escaped from Bethlehem to Egypt with the baby, Jesus Christ, the first Christmas gift.
