Santa Claus is Still as Popular as Ever

Consider how many Christmas traditions are closely linked to one major character in our annual Christmas celebrations: Santa. There are so many traditions that are linked to Santa Claus, and these traditions only came about as the popularity of Santa Claus grew. Christmas is a magical time of year, and try to consider for a moment just how many annual traditions go hand in hand with the role of Santa Claus.

Don't Forget the Cookies

Many families put Christmas cookies out for Santa Claus. When Santa Claus comes to deliver all the presents, he gets to devour milk and tasty Christmas cookies. Some families even leave out carrots for Santa’s reindeer. In November or early December, young children make out a list to give to Santa, so he knows what Christmas presents they would like for Christmas.

Did Santa Send a Letter?

Sometimes kids even receive a personalized letter from Santa. The list of traditions linked to Santa Claus keeps going. There are perhaps more than a dozen ways we celebrate the holiday that focus on the legendary figure of Santa Claus. We leave out stockings for Santa Claus to fill them up. Many kids also visit Santa Claus at the mall to have their pictures taken.

Sing a Santa Song

Many songs that have become incredibly popular and are enjoyed year after year also focus on Santa Claus. Santa Claus is Coming to Town is one incredibly popular song, and there are many versions of this song out there. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus is another favorite.

There are countless decorations of Santa: Santa snow globes, blow-up Santas for the front lawn, and Santa figurines. Santa has become such an integral part of our annual holiday Christmas celebrations that it is hard to imagine the popularity of Santa ever declining. It looks like Santa Claus is here to stay for a very, very long time.
